The Trainee Dental Nurse will assist dentists and dental care professionals in delivering high-quality dental care to patients. This role involves both clinical and administrative duties, providing comprehensive support to the dental team. The trainee will receive on-the-job training and work towards achieving relevant dental nursing qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Assisting Dentists:
Prepare and maintain the clinical environment.
Assist the dentist during various dental procedures.
Ensure the patient is comfortable and supported throughout their visit.
Instrument Sterilisation:
Clean and sterilise instruments and equipment following infection control protocols.
Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and ready for use.
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for treatment, explaining procedures and offering reassurance.
Provide post-treatment care instructions and ensure patients understand them.
Record Keeping:
Accurately record patient information and treatment details.
Maintain up-to-date patient records and ensure confidentiality is upheld.
Radiography:
Assist in taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
Ensure compliance with radiation protection guidelines.
Administrative Duties:
Appointment Management:
Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
Manage patient recalls and follow-ups.
Communication:
Handle patient inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
Provide information on treatment options and costs.
Stock Management:
Monitor and order dental supplies and materials.
Ensure the clinic is well-stocked and organized.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
Educational Requirements: Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively within a team.
Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
IT Skills: Proficiency in basic computer applications and willingness to learn dental software.
